Texas Secession - Questions We Should All be Asking

Questions We Should All be Asking:1) Under what set of circumstances would it be prudent for a state to actually consider secession and the forming of a new government? Are we (Texas, America) anywhere near that point?2) What are the specific grievances that the American people have against the Federal Government at this time? 3) What are the negative ramifications of secession (war, economic instability, governmental uncertainty, prospect of potential post war rebuilding, etc.)?
4) What are the potential benefits of forming our own government (new freedoms, trust in those governing us, financial prosperity)?
5) With the vast differences of opinion in any given state how could any consensus be made? Or would the ideas of the majority simply monopolize the new government and force the minority to subject or leave?
6) What would it take in Texas (or in any region or territory) for things to escalate from some random signatures on an online petition to anything that has substance or consequence?

There must be a clarification of the wrongs of the Federal Government that are understandable by the laymen.
There would need to be clear identification of the intentions and new political ideas that are being presented.
There must be clear leaders or spokesmen arise that people can look to for that communication.
There would then need to be a large percentage of the populous unify under those ideas.
Only at this point could a new petition with any hope of real response be presented. This would effectively form a new political party with new ideas and purposes to then be reviewed and either admitted or denied a voice.
Once there was clear reason to believe that this voice was being denied then additional actions could ensue that further the purposes of this new party (like strategic thinking about how to form an independent nation).

7) Would all efforts be more effectual if the discussion was not about a state leaving the union but about a group of people who share common interests and ideas? The plan being to identify the territory which these people would occupy later on in the discussion only after clear purposes had been cast.
8) Is all this worth it? Are the principles which are being violated worth the effort which would be required to resolve them? History has mostly left things be. History also shows hours in which the people declared 'yes' these principles are worth our lives.I don't know that I have answers to most of these questions yet, but I'm interested to see where things go and who arises with the answers.Brad StroupDirector of The Prayer RoomArlington Texas

Now this is Eternal Life

Now This Is Eternal Life'Now this is eternal life: that they may know you, the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom you have sent (Jn. 17:3).'I hear much debate over whether a person will inherit eternal life or not as if there were some ambiguity about the subject. The discussion about whether a person will spend eternity in Heaven or eternity in Hell is really off subject; in fact it really misses the point entirely. The point of salvation isn't that we would spend eternity in Heaven; it's that we would be in relationship with the One who created us. This relationship is defined by God as one of obedience, repentance and love – no one can alter these eternal principles that God Himself has put in place. The conversation really needs to be centered around the point of life; relationship with the Creator. When this is the topic it makes perfect sense that someone in relationship with the Creator would continue on in that relationship perpetually (because time does not limit the one who created time). And with this proper perspective it also makes sense that if a person is not in relationship with God then they would continue on in that state indefinitely when they pass from this life. Again, this relationship is defined by God as obedience to Him (Jn. 14:21-24), ownership and repentance of wrongdoing (1Jn. 1:6-10) and our love for Him expressed in the way we live for Him (Mt. 22:37-38). No one can alter these eternal principles. It is to this end therefore that we live; let us all seek to know Jesus Christ and thus be assured of our calling and salvation (2Pe. 1:10-11).Brad Stroupwww.theprayerroomdfw.comThe Prayer RoomArlington, Texas

Revival in the Baptist World

I had a most unusual and encouraging experience today...at the Arlington pastors luncheon we heard from a man who carries a true burden for revival. Bill Elliff of Little Rock AR, a Baptist pastor (in his late fifties I'd guess) presented the most provoking exhortation on revival I have ever heard in evangelical circles. He is launching a prayer initiative called One Voice that I'd encourage all of you to go check out (onecry.org). It's an effort to help provoke and resource leaders (his influence is predominately a Baptist reach) to cry out for a great spiritual awakening in our nation, 3rd Great Awakening kind of scope. He has an extraordinary heart; as he passionately spoke about our great need for revival he broke into tears several times trying to convey the apparent futility our efforts have thus far gotten us.
His message was very familiar...

it's not going to be another program that fixes our problem
we need a great awakening
we all need to cry out in prayer for God to move
we need to be meeting daily
there is blood guilt on our land and God is going to increase His judgments on us if we as a people don't turn to Him
we are in trouble because of the millions of abortions this nation has committed
he spoke of Hernhut Germany and the Moravian 100 year prayer meeting

Ummm...I was encouraged. So you know what I did? I asked him to come speak that's what I did! I can't wait for him to come tell us his stories of revival hitting their Baptist church and how as a congregation they have begun regular prayer initiatives. This man is going to be used mightily in the Baptist circles to evoke revival and prayer where ever doors are opened for him and I want for us to be friends (we need what this man has).

Friendship With God

Friendship With God
What about Abraham made him to be called God's friend (2Ch. 20:7; Jm. 2:23)? I want to be God's friend. Whatever that relationship looked like I want it.
Abraham's Part:

Abraham Believed God
Abraham Followed God's Instruction
Abraham Made Costly Decisions for God
Abraham Kept the Covenant God Made with Him

God's Part:

God Spoke to Him
God Gave Him Stuff
God Made Him Promises
God Made Him Prosperous
God Protected/Defended Him
God Treated Him with Favor
God Said that He was Abraham's God

Pretty simple I guess, at least on paper. Let's seek God like Abraham did and then expect the reciprocated friendship that Abraham had with God.

Calling Americans to Wholeheartedness

Calling Americans to Wholeheartedness
Lord, help me to call Americans to wholeheartedness, to a version of following you that makes the angels pay attention. I pray that The Prayer Room would be a place that provokes people in their walk with God, where people would find you and give themselves wholly to you. I pray that you allow the fragrance of what we present as normal Christianity to be a sweet smell to the new believer and to the bored church goer. I want this ministry first of all to be a pleasing fragrance to you and secondly to be a powerful force in drawing Americans into wholehearted devotion to Jesus Christ. I want my life to be used to call your people out of Babylon (Je. 50:8) and all the compromise of our culture and to call them into something fulfilling; not something that other bored Christians say is fulfilling but into something that when people encounter it they're hearts would be made alive. I want to be used to entice Americans out of lethargy and spiritual boredom, I want to provide an atmosphere, a place, a culture, where Christianity is full of life and truth, where God is experienced and adored. Oh God grant that The Prayer Room might become a place where American Christians give themselves fully over to you and cause even the angels to do double takes. Raise up wholeheartedness in this place as a sweet aroma to you and as an allure to all the bored believers and church refusers.

No, not another demonstration with all the marks of fulfilling a widespread internet prophecy. A prayer. While the the world around us 'falls' the people of God should 'bow.' Our response to the current stirrings of anger in the marketplace isn't fear or intrigue its intercession -Lord come 'Occupy Our Street.' Send us a season of refreshing, a visitation, a move of your Holy Spirit. It's time to contend like never before for a historic move of God. If we do not rightly respond to the rise of such difficulties by turning our angst into intercession then we miss our opportunity and miss use our energies to fuel the problems of the day.
The Only Process

The Only Process

I. Overturning the Judgment of God:
Every nation is in crisis. America is in Crisis. Overturning the rightful judgment of God for the increasingly sinful state of America cannot be treated lightly. We aren't dealing with a person who can be bought off or convinced to look the other way. The current state of accrued judgment that is awaiting America took decades to amass and it is ignorant, hypocritical and flawed to think that our nation can transition into right standing with God because some thousands of people get together for a one day event and pray for a few hours. I dare say 100,000 people going 24/7 for months on end probably would not be enough to overturn the judgment situation for this nation. We have a crisis of incalculable magnitude and virtually no one is paying attention. We will die in our unpreparedness or we will begin to prepare.

II. A Grave Danger:
I'm very annoyed about what I am convinced of, and about what I am going to now write. There is only one process that makes sense at this time, and unfortunately it will be widely perceived as unnecessary, strange sounding, and hyper-religious. This perception will remain the case until the wisdom of it is proved right by time or by God. Consequently it will be the source of much persecution for those who choose to propagate it. If this particular process isn't heeded then it will go poorly for whatever populous has not a sufficient enough core of people embracing it. Each part that follows is only a means to an end, but I fear that each step is necessary in order to produce the end results. It doesn't matter that this process is unheard of or bizarre sounding; it is the only process that will work.

III. Step One – Become Gripped:
We must become gripped with the fear of the Lord regarding the hour we are living in, this is the essential first step or the process won't work and it will go poorly for whatever populous has not a sufficient enough core of people embracing it. Read the following verses slowly and carefully. Ask the Lord to paint the picture for you of what is required to overturn His wrath.
'The end of all things is near. Therefore be clear minded and self-controlled so that you can pray (1Pe. 4:7).'
'The day of the LORD is great; it is dreadful. Who can endure it? 'Even now,' declares the LORD, 'return to me with all your heart, with fasting and weeping and mourning.' Rend your heart…Return to the LORD your God, for he is gracious and compassionate, slow to anger and abounding in love, and he relents from sending calamity. Who knows? He may turn and have pity and leave behind a blessing…Blow the trumpet in Zion, declare a holy fast, call a sacred assembly. Gather the people, consecrate the assembly; bring together the elders, gather the children, those nursing at the breast. Let the bridegroom leave his room and the bride her chamber. Let the priests, who minister before the LORD, weep between the temple porch and the altar. Let them say, 'Spare your people, O LORD. Do not make your inheritance an object of scorn, a byword among the nations. Why should they say among the peoples, 'Where is their God (Jo. 2:11-17)?''
'My soul yearns for you in the night; in the morning my spirit longs for you. When your judgments come upon the earth, the people of the world learn righteousness(Is. 26:9).'
'Gather together, gather together, O shameful nation, before the appointed time arrives and that day sweeps on like chaff, before the fierce anger of the LORD comes upon you, before the day of the LORD's wrath comes upon you. Seek the LORD, all you humble of the land, you who do what he commands. Seek righteousness, seek humility; perhaps you will be sheltered on the day of the LORD's anger (Zph. 2:1-3).'
'When disaster comes to a city, has not the LORD caused it (Am. 3:6)?'
'if my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then will I hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and will heal their land. Now my eyes will be open and my ears attentive to the prayers offered in this place (2Ch. 7:14).'

IV. Step Two – Get Clarity on the Subject:
If being gripped by what is on the horizon doesn't cause us to go deeper in prayer and in study and our conversations then the gripping will leave us in time and we will remain no better off than we were. Further, we will never become part of the solution. The solution necessitates that millions of Americans embrace this process, and remember it will go poorly for whatever populous (think city or region) has not a sufficient enough core of people embracing it.

V. Step Three – Begin Communicating the Problem:
Once we have some revelation we need to begin to communicate the problem at hand, or as the Joel 2 passage says 'blow the trumpet.' Our words will start off painfully ineffective; we will soon see the barren state of our lack of clarity as we try to explain these things to people and have almost nothing to say, or much to say with little effect. I believe that this is intended by God to be fuel for our fire and it is to cause us a pain we can't be cured of so that we would invest all the more in prayer and study and the pursuit of discernment and clarity.

VI. Step Four – Communicate the Solution:
For anyone who will listen, for any reason whatsoever, we then need to communicate the solution. It will go very poorly for whatever populous has not a sufficient enough core of people embracing this solution. The solution is night and day prayer…lots of it.

VII. Step Five – Start Night and Day Prayer Everywhere:
A. If things don't make it to this step then all our efforts were not enough. Informed people doing nothing will still see the judgment they were informed about (see the unresponsive recipients of every major prophet and most of the minor prophet's messages of warning).
B. Tragically, it is not enough even to have prayer, at The Prayer Room we've been praying corporately now 7 days a week for over 6 years and I am only awakened now more than ever to the desperate state we are in.
C. It is not enough to have night and day prayer. It must be a large enough percentage of the population engaged at a deep enough heart level for a long enough period of time, and only God can gauge what is adequate
D. This sounds unbelievable to our busied self absorbed American minds, but it is real and it is crucial that we awaken to this reality. And for those regions that do not a sufficient enough core of people embracing this it will go very poorly for that people.

God Bring an Awakening

God Bring an Awakening
I'm ready for an awakening here in our city. There is so much about our Christianity that is nominal. I know God desires to see our hearts set ablaze and that we all long for a move of His Spirit where our dead hearts would be made alive. I'm praying that God would visit us in power and awaken hearts by His presence, that the first time visitor comes into the prayer room and gets hit by the Spirit in a dramatic way, in a way they have never known, maybe that they never believed in. Then after a hour or so of deep encounter with God they get up off the floor alive, transformed, hungry, awakened. How many of us have just been going through the motions for years, how many bored Christians are there within just 35 miles from this Missions Base? I just want to see hearts made alive. I'm grateful for the couple dozen in our midst that have experienced that awakening, but what about the Church at large? I want to see something that goes far beyond the walls of TPR. It doesn't have to start here, we don't have to lead it I just pray that we'd be able to be part of it. And it makes sense to me that if the Lord is going to come and visit a region that He would target those places that have been contending for revival, so yes I want it here at The Prayer Room. Oh God come visit Dallas Fort Worth and pour your Spirit out at TPR!

Raising a Community to Take Care of this City

Raising a Community to Take Care of this City
I'm weighted with the sober reality that trouble is soon coming to our nation, which incidentally means that it's coming to my city. I'm hit with the reality that God leaves so much in the hands of the saints to deal with and steward. The revelation hit me that I am helping to raise a community of people who will in many ways take care of this city at it's lowest point in the coming days. It is a season to prepare for whats on the horizon.
Our Families: What about when the members of our family are terrified and confused and mad at God? What are you going to do? Are you going to have anything to give them, any comfort, any clarity?
Community: What about when economics are nearly non existent and food and possibly shelter are scarce? Will we be a people who are tightly knit enough to provide for and strengthen each other, will we be able to offer any help to others in need or will we still all be islands unto ourselves concerned only with our family unit?
The Church: What about when the Church is filled with confusion and deception has taken it's toll on congregations, where they call good evil and call evil good? Will you have anything to say? Will we be a beacon of light in that darkness? Will your voice make any difference?
Devastation: What about when there are dead bodies littering the streets and not enough infrastructure or concern to clean them up? Are you going to be able to stomach that? Are you going to be able to lead in the midst of that? That is really coming, and someone is going to have to lead and help the masses make sense of what is going on.
Government: What about when our government begins to mandate wickedness? Will we be able to stand under it without cracking? Will we stand for truth when truth costs us dearly and when it seems that no one else is? Our city will crumble without righteousness shinning forth, will DFW crumble?
Judgments of God: What about when the judgments of God are in the land? Will there be a sufficient core of people crying out day and night here in Dallas Fort Worth to ensure its continuation as a city? Will we have taken intercession seriously enough for long enough to have covered us? Will DFW be a pocket of mercy, a place of God's sovereign protection as we are praying or will it be treated just like the rest of the Earth to whom God promises destruction?

Where Have All the Cowboys Gone? - The Calling Forth of Forerunners

Where Have All the Cowboys Gone?
The Calling Forth of Forerunners
There is coming a time when everyone will know that God is real, atheism will be far from the thoughts of mankind. During this timeframe, while the existence of God will be universally known men will choose by and large to worship Satan instead. Currently we live in an hour where very few have a practical theology, for most God is not real or at least not relevant. We must recognize the magnitude of deception required for such a transition to become reality. We must gird ourselves up making ready for far more evil days. Deception is brewing of such a force that when men see God with their own eyes they will choose to covenant with darkness rather than follow the God of infinite kindness (Re. 6:16-17, 9:20, 16:11). Deception. Deception. Deception. We need to have a revelation of the hour we live in, the hour just before the great storm of human history. Where are the forerunners? Where are those who understand, those who will be prepared when the great trouble hits? Preparation only comes at a high price. There is no other way; a life of prayer, fasting and focused study is required if anyone wants to have understanding in that day. It's not impartable simply by hanging around people with clarity, you can't get it from the latest best selling book, and a casual approach will yield only minimal results. Now is the hour for the forerunner to arise, those committed to gaining clarity about how to navigate the coming trouble. God is calling out to this generation to see who will respond, to see who is paying attention to the signs and His command to be prepared at His coming (Mk. 13:32-37). Do you hear His voice speaking to you about these things…if so join with us; really throw your lot in with us as we seek the Lord together and build a greenhouse for training the forerunners of the last days.

A Time to Tear Down and a Time to Build

A Time to Tear Down and a Time to Build
'This is what the LORD Almighty says: 'These people say, 'The time has not yet come for the LORD's house to be built.' ' Then the word of the LORD came through the prophet Haggai: 'Is it a time for you yourselves to be living in your paneled houses, while this house remains a ruin (Hg. 1:2-4)?' What time is it now? Is it a time for us to be living well off and spending our resources (time, money, influence, strength) on ourselves while the House of Prayer remains in ruins (that is far from perpetual in nature, insufficiently funded, virtually unknown and sparse in attendance – a ruin)? I don't know exactly what a day in the life of the people of Haggai's time looked like and what they where doing the day before the prophet delivered this message. But after he presented this challenge they stopped living as they had, they were cut to the heart about the Lord's House of Prayer and they gave themselves (and their resources) to seeing that that house be built to bring God praise and make His name famous. 'This is what the LORD Almighty says: 'Give careful thought to your ways. Go up into the mountains and bring down timber and build the house, so that I may take pleasure in it and be honored,' says the LORD (Hg. 1:7-8).' And so they began the work. What this really means is that they stopped doing all of the things that were so important to them/ their lifestyles and instead used all that strength (previously used on themselves) and they built the house of God. I don't know if they understood what they were signing up for but they worked hard on that house until it was finished; about four years of hard work, neglecting many many things in their lives for four years. They stayed focused and laid their 'paneled houses' American Dream down for four years and they built until it was complete. I don't know what I am suggesting here. Maybe four years of laying down our agendas, maybe more until it's complete–it is after all the Last Generation and this house is promised to be greater than the former. At the very least I think it's time for all of us 'to consider our ways' and see what measure of priority the House of Prayer has for us in this hour. That we would pray to God about how He feels about His house and then ask Him what He would have us to do, and how He would have us structure our lives and resources (time, money, influence, strength) to align with how He feels about the current state of His house. 'Lord, help us to hear from you and not miss what you are doing in this hour.'

Studies in Revelation

Studies in Revelation
I believe that when 'the sky is rolled back like a scroll' in Revelation 6:14 it remains rolled back for the duration of the events of Revelation. That is that whatever this rolling back looks like it is not ever unrolled and so this event would leave an open window into Heaven thus allowing the inhabitants of the Earth to see what transpires there. If this is true then here are some of the way that it would play out… 1. The sky is left rolled back would then leave the thrown room of Heaven exposed (Re. 6:14-16)2. It is likely that this rolling back of the sky would be over Jerusalem (as all of the Bible is Jerusalem centric) meaning the context of these activities is over the Middle East / Israel.3. The silence of Heaven would be viewed and realized by the world that is mourning the previous 6 Seal Judgments (Re. 8:1)4. The 7 Angels coming forth and being handed the 7 Trumpets would be visible (Re. 8:2) 5. The Angel with the golden censor hurling the fire from the altar to the Earth would be seen as coming through this window (Re. 8:5)6. Each of the Trumpet Angels would be seen actually blowing their trumpets (Re. 8:7, 8, 10 , 12, 9:1, 13, 11:15)7. The eagle flying overhead warning the Earth about the three Woes would be something that the people of the planet could see (Re. 8:13)8. The 7 Angels being handed the 7 Bowls of wrath would be seen by men (Re. 15:1, 7)9. Then the 7 Angels with the 7 Bowls would travel trough this window into the earthly realm in order to 'go pour out' their bowls on the elements (Re. 16:1, 2, 3, 8, 10, 12, 17)10. The Two Witnesses would go up to Heaven through this window (Re. 11:11-12)11. Jesus would begin His procession through this window with all the angels and saints of Heaven following Him (Lk. 21:7; Re. 19:11, 17:14)12. The New Jerusalem would descend through this same window (Re. 21:10)13. These events being visible to mankind would account for the 'terrifying sights' that cause men to faint from fear (Lk. 21:11, 26). Men anticipating what is coming on the earth would be in accordance to what they first see in Heaven and understand to be the following affects.

My Alabaster Jar

I realized something this morning about myself that made me make a lot of sense to me. After struggling with so many things in my heart and working through motives and emotions I came to a very freeing revelation: Building The Prayer Room (the part of the house of prayer reality in the Earth that the Lord has permitted for me to be part of) is not a commission for me anymore -it never was. No...it's my alabaster jar (Mk. 14:3-9). It's not my work for Him it's my wholehearted offering to Him. I'm going to spend my whole life making this gift the sweetest aroma it can possibly be. I'm going to work lots of hours, make little money and put up with tremendous hassle. I'm going to have a weird schedule, be misunderstood, and I'm going to care about the little details and build this thing with excellence. And you know what, I'm going to be a little anal about it because this isn't my job -it's my alabaster jar and I care about my offering to the Lord. I also realized that this doesn't have to be just my jar, it can be everyone's who wants it to be theirs too. But it's not yours simply because you say that it is. It actually takes you giving your heart to it. It can still be a great part of your life, and a place of refuge for you, but in order to be your alabaster jar it's going to have to get intensely personal. TPR is a big enough project that it can be your jar too. I invite you in and warn you at the same time however -it's a costly jar, just look at what this jar did to David. The words of King David about his alabaster jar... 'O LORD, remember David and all the hardships he endured. He swore an oath to the LORD and made a vow to the Mighty One of Jacob: 'I will not enter my house or go to my bed- I will allow no sleep to my eyes, no slumber to my eyelids, till I find a place for the LORD, a dwelling for the Mighty One of Jacob (Ps. 132:1-5).' 'One thing I ask of the LORD, this is what I seek: that I may dwell in the house of the LORD all the days of my life, to gaze upon the beauty of the LORD and to seek him in his temple (Ps. 27:4).' 'For I endure scorn for your sake, and shame covers my face. I am a stranger to my brothers, an alien to my own mother's sons: for zeal for your house consumes me, and the insults of those who insult you fall on me (Ps. 69:7-9).'

Pray with me

Pray with me for the favor of powerful men in helping us to build 24/7 prayer.'For seven days they celebrated with joy...because the LORD had filled them with joy by changing the attitude of the king...so that he assisted them in the work on the house of God, the God of Israel (Er. 6:22).''Ezra came up from Babylon. He was a teacher well versed in the Law of Moses...The king had granted him everything he asked, for the hand of the LORD his God was on him (Er. 7:6).'

Why are we doing this?

For those of us who have decided to give ourselves to The Prayer Room, and for those still considering; it is of super value that we would all be on the same page as to why. Here are some great Secondary reasons that are NOT primarily why we do this:· To have a lively place to fellowship and enjoy God together.· For this area to have a well (a place of healing/deliverance/teaching/ refreshing/ etc.) from which to drink.· Because the Bible says prayer is good and that we should do it (close, but not exactly our main reason). All of the above certainly play into God's purposes, but we do this foremost because the Lord Jesus is worthy of the most lavish offering we can give Him and because He desires that there would be 24/7 prayer and worship in the cities of the Earth before His return. We therefore labor toward this end without reserve; we overcome all obstacles because nothing is so great that it should get in the way of that reality. I just want to honor the leadership team at The Prayer Room, they are a rare breed of humanity. They give themselves to serve both the Lord and all this region by building the Lord's House with such diligence and sacrifice. They have less in life as a result, they are unfairly busy, they have to put up with much hassle from men and demons and I honor them as those who contend for the faith in our generation. The Lord wants night and day prayer from His people (Le. 6:12; Is. 62:6-7; Lk. 18:1-8), and He is most certainly worthy of it. I think that one of the most valid and beautiful expressions of love for Jesus in our day is a life given over to seeing that dream become reality and then that reality sustained until He comes. All for the Beautiful Man King Jesus!

The Tabernacle of David

Quote from Jamie Pridgen IHOP ATL 'In 70 AD, the Temple in Jerusalem was destroyed by the Roman army. In that moment, worship in the order of Moses, as required by Torah, could not be observed. The only Biblical way to worship the Lord from that point on was through Davidic Order of Worship (the prophesied restoration of the Tabernacle of David)! This is what Malachi prophesied.' 'For from the rising of the sun to its setting my name will be great among the nations (gentiles), and in every place incense will be offered to my name, and a pure offering (Ma. 1:11).'
